Grilled Peppers – Piperies Psites

Grilled peppers is a dish you may not have come across even if you’ve travelled extensively to Greece. It’s typically a delicious side or meze put together by old school homecooks and served during big family dinners. We love it. It’s easy to make, super healthy and nutritious.

Of course old school Greek homecooks often fried the peppers. We never do that, instead we grill them. Keep in mind this is a vinegary dish. The peppers are not pickled but they are on their way. As a result, you can also add them to salads and mre but they are super yummy on their own.

For this dish you will need green banana peppers. Is Greece they are called piperies kerato i.e. horn peppers. They are mild and tangy and delicious.

This dish is best served at room temperature. Conveniently, it keeps for a couple of days and you can make it in advance. It’s great for BBQs and family dinners. It’s also a great snack to come home to at the end of a long day. Lovely as part of a mezze spread too.
