Greeks love steak, grills and BBQs . Most will either go out weekly to a grill house, or grill on their own BBQ or both. Especially in the summer, BBQs are celebrated.
But sometimes it’s just more convenient and quicker to cook steaks in the pan. This is our auntie’s amazing, very quick and easy recipe for rump steak. You can choose a different cut of meat but we always cook this with lean, fillet-like meat.
It’s a great way to treat people to a superb meal that feels both very special and very homemade.
Auntie Ellie serves this steak with homemade French fries or rice and some Greek salad. We all love it. As it’s one of her specialties and she’s getting older, we recently got her to let us know exactly how she pulls it off.
At home, if we have the time, we also like serving it with couscous which is ready in a just a few minutes, broccoli dressed with lemon and olive oil and tzatziki. But more often than not, we let this easy dish fool us into thinking we have made a huge effort, when all we’ve dove is spent a few minutes over the frying pan.
